Grand Arctic Resort is the largest property in the Explore the North portfolio, situated in Överkalix on the Torne River, just below the Arctic Circle. It operates year-round and is pitched at both leisure guests and groups. The main building holds 60 hotel rooms. The standard rooms are double or twin with en suite shower and toilet. Fourteen aurora rooms add a private balcony or terrace oriented toward the north for northern lights viewing, and some can accommodate two adults and two children. Two sauna suites have panoramic views and their own saunas, with one connecting to an adjoining double room. Beyond the main building, six aurora cabins sit directly on the riverbank, each with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchenette, and a north-facing terrace. There is also a 17th-century villa available for exclusive hire, sleeping 8 to 12 across six bedrooms, with open fireplaces throughout. Common facilities include a restaurant with river views serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a lounge with panoramic north-facing windows, a wilderness bar by reception, and a relax area with two saunas and an indoor jacuzzi included for all guests. An outdoor jacuzzi and wood-fired sauna by the river can be booked separately.
